The curing and editing functions work fine. Up for sale is a great condition, hard to find ampex ag440b Track reel to reel recorder. We spent about 15 hours on this unit, and did the following service work minor repair to the auto shutoff switch that was sticky lubrication of all motor bearings they are quiet. Included with the deck are the original nab hubs. The deck has been aligned with our Camacho tape deck analyzer with quantify 456 tape. Solenoid control, solid ff and Re, and oversize everything in this unit, so it can be worked all day without fear of failure. The tape shown is not included. Full alignment and bias tweaking to quantify 456 tape.
It's ruler flat to over 20khz at both speeds, but we gave it a slight 3db boost starting at about 8khz to sweeten up the Tracks a bit. Mel calibration tape used to set playback levels and frequency response.
Residential delivery is possible, but adds to the price. As a result, the bulbs on channel 3 appear to be a bit dimmer than the other three channels, but rather than risk damaging the meter movement, we left the maintenance at changing the bulbs only. The large VI meters respond beautifully, and the deck has XLR inputs and outputs at line level. This deck has been fully gone over.
The deck records beautifully at both speeds, and is flat to 20khz.
The deck will need to be strapped to a pallet and shipped via truck, it's too heavy for couriers and USPS.
