I am not sure what is going on with it as I have no mechanical abilities. Hoping someone will have an idea of what's going on or have a need for it's part. He said he had not used it in decades so he was unsure if it was in working condition.
First of all it rewinds and fast forward like no tape deck I have ever experienced before. I have had it for over 5 years and have probably spent about 5/6 hours total on it.
Sometimes only one side comes in. There is no issue with the belt of whatever drives the cassette as it seems to be in proper working condition. Sometimes both.
It plays intermittently. Very strong, as is the eject it will toss the tape across the room if you are not careful. Listening or waiting to listen to it.
I picked this up from the original owner. If I see both meters jumping I turn on my receiver and listen to it.
What I have done in the past is plugged it in and ran a tape through and periodically look over at the VI meters and see if there is any activity. It is used and shows some minor, scratches and scuffs but as you can see in pics it has been well cared for.
