It was a little slow in warming up, I imagine it Haydn been used in many, many years. I was not able to test the record play function, as I have no reels.

Some creasing, discoloration, scuffing, spotting, shelf wear, remnants of old price tags, and features a tear on the bottom of the box, right lower corner. Once the batteries, 4 c, kicked in, it ran like a charm. It uses 3 tape reels.

The unit is nice and clean, and comes in original box with instructions, warranty card, and original Styrofoam. There is a puncture on the bottom of the box, stage. I would be extremely surprised if it did not. However, when I pushed the forward button, as well as the record button, there was a change in volume, and a bit of static.

This, in addition to the condition of the recorder, leads me to believe it does work. The box has cosmetic problems.
