This model has a record level meter in place of a speaker. Button 1 is line input record, button 2 is mike input record, button 3 is playback and button 4 is a dummy that just releases the first three buttons. It could use some restoration replacement of capacitors and lubrication and rejuvenation of rubber idlers, but it works as is. This is a working webcor Webster Chicago model 78 1 wire recorder.
A schematic for the model is shown, but it appears to be identical the this unit.
This item is offered for sale by the vindicate museum. It is in good cosmetic condition. One of them, labeled bloopers, seems to be a copy of a commercial recording.
The front panel buttons are not well labeled. It has been tested to play back and record. The mike that probably came with the unit is missing, but 6 reels of wire are included.
It has four tubes 6x4, 6au6, 6ar5 and 6at6. It has line and mike inputs on the front panel and a line level output on the rear panel.
