It appears to work fine, but I cannot test all features, cosmetically, it looks very nice I did turn the volume up. Automatic shutoff at end of wire in forward playing and rewind. I did find the microphone. I do not have spools to run through and listen to the recorder play and would not know exactly how to do that physicians use the 181 for recording case histories.

These units play through the built in speaker or from an external speaker from the receptacle located on the front panel this model is the higher end unit that would be used in a studio, classroom, or for clergy.
