This is what it says on the Webster web site the web cor 181 wire recorder is the unit that puts magnetic recording in the hands of thousands because of its low cost.
Where there is a need for a magnetic recorder at an extremely low cost, no unit equals the web cor clean and what appears to be a smooth running Webster Chicago model 181 1r wire recorder. I am not an expert and have gathered a lot of info from the internet, if you see an error let me know.

It appears to work fine, but I cannot test all features, cosmetically, it looks very nice I did turn the volume up. Automatic shutoff at end of wire in forward playing and rewind. I did find the microphone. I do not have spools to run through and listen to the recorder play and would not know exactly how to do that physicians use the 181 for recording case histories.
I plugged it in. Sales training experts recommend the 181 for stimulating sales programs if you want to pick this up it does have lighting that comes on when the unit is on.

I have compared to the other model's I have seen here and this is by far in much better cosmetic condition than most. Removable makeup reel allows for ease of removing wrapped wire from under the reel should a wire break. The front panel has an input for a microphone as well. These units play through the built in speaker or from an external speaker from the receptacle located on the front panel this model is the higher end unit that would be used in a studio, classroom, or for clergy.
