It was tested to both record and play 8mm tapes. It comes with a battery, the camera, 9 of 8mm tapes some previously recorded on, 1 brand new, battery charger and ac adapter, Samsonite carrying case. I bought this from a smoking household so the bag smells like smoke. The battery is completely dead and will not hold a charge.
