Vintage Grundig TK23 reel to player, or recorder. Unfortunately I know nothing about this machine. I tried to press other buttons, but that did not help.

I tried to turn the reels a little see if that got them going, but it did not work. Not sure if I am missing something by knowing how to operate the machine, or it is working and needs be repaired. The top of case has some padding which is flaking and rubbing off from age - stained Grundig reel, shown in photos.

I plugged it in, pressed start, and the reels jolted, but then stopped.
