My price is worth for just the black metal housing alone. Attention vintage Ampex fans. There are plenty of vintage Ampex transports for sale, but many them dont have heads, as they were sold off big money years ago. There is a record head and playback these appear to be mono.
In fact just the black metal housing is getting impossible to find. This nice head stack has the original Ampex plugs, they weren't converted to rca plugs like so many were, so, if your recorder jacks, these will fit.
If you add an erase head, will have a fully functioning, vintage Ampex head stack. Probably, this was used as a playback deck, and the record head to put calibration tone on new reel of tape. USA buyers only. Here is a nice set of original, rebuilt Ampex heads, taken from an S-3201 recorder.
May god bless our brave men and women in the armed forces keep them safe. There is no erase head, a tape guide in that spot. If you're reading this, you know that these full head stack assemblies are getting very hard to find.
