The product is an Inky portable open reel recorder, model PT-4K, from the 1960s, originally produced by Deng Co. Mission: Impossible had this one, but the smoke was fake after they stopped recording before it gets self-destruct. This one is a spy tape recorder which were used during the time when James Bond was huge, they had that in many of movies. As is I have not tested it the battery compartment clear of corrosion juice, but one spring to hold 5 AA batteries needs be attached.
