Don't get me wrong though, it is still in decent shape. There is a lot of other information online about this system including YouTube videos it in action as well.
If it broke for any reason, I would be out hundreds of dollars at least.
For sale is a vintage 1960s Saba hifi 600-SH. But, that does not eliminate the problem of my buyer having an opportunity to test this item. The shorter amount of time it is in postal system, better chance will arrive safely.
I decided it was time to enter the Saba world and power this component on. I of course have many more and all you to do is ask.
The item his wife was most proud of this Saba that she told me never even set up and used by her husband. Specifications track system: 4-track, 2-channel, stereo monaural system motor: 3 motor drive reel size: up to 9 inch reel tape speeds: Ipswich and flutter. Imagine my horror when I found out that for some reason there was no power cord.
A few weeks passed and I finally had listed all the smaller vintage audio collectibles bought there. Has a limit of 12 photos. The original box itself which I assume a buyer would want measures approximately 30 square. By all means, if there is a specific photo you want, that no problem.
Please e-mail specific questions prior to buying. Some of these which were not new in original box sold for more than 1000 euros. Overall and especially for being 45 years old,this vintage reel to is in amazing condition. By purchasing this item, you are agreeing to take photos of the item and box if it arrives damaged.
You do not have to actually pay for the item though at time of purchase. If I am unable to sell this locally, then maybe will consider shipping it.
Shipping: I have absolutely no desire to ship this item because of its shear weight and size. 1mv mic output. I know very little other than what have learned since was blessed by having this item fall into my lap.
It is no less than 90 pristine and immaculate. It has a large glass top removable face which is totally pristine. It was also missing the owners manual which I ordered from germany and replaced.
Thankfully, this component powered up immediately when plugged in and here we are. It weighs about 50 pounds alone, not including the massive box and all accessories that come with. Over the years, it was obviously well cared for and barely shows any signs of age.
The value here in America is a bit tougher to figure out because there simply are no comparisons from past sales look at. I didn't even bother to try and power it up because there was no reason believe wouldn't work. I went back to the widows home and she was gracious enough let me search around we found nothing. Even the tapes are still in unopened packages.
I highly suggest you choose expedited shipping on fragile items. I'm expecting my buyer to be educated about such an item.
I do know this though, if anything did break or dry out over the decades, i'm sure it is not major and would surely be a somewhat simple fix. But, I am not greedy neither.
Many of the items I sell are vintage, so it is sometimes impractical to describe every flaw and imperfection, but will try give most accurate can.
The box was opened previously but Saba sat in there with all original packing materials. Its fair to say he was a true audiophile. It literally has sat in his den for decades untouched.
I pack each item as if it is the holy grail but accidents do happen from time.
What I did learn for sure is that it worth at least 40 more to collectors in Europe, especially germany. My photos are an accurate depiction of this items true condition. The original box has a little bit of wear to it simply doing its job protecting contents. Honest to god, it had a table cloth over the box and was being used.
As a picker, this is my sole occupation and I spend money on such items to make profit. Price: it took me a while to finally list this item because I did some research on especially trying figure out what is worth. Besides, since I don't know much about these to begin with, it wouldn't make sense for me try and discuss in detail.
Truly, the only flaw I can find from a detailed visual inspection is that in one spot silver metal band runs across front face has lifted slightly which some glue dried out. A drop of super glue on toothpick would fix that in 2 seconds for sure. I consider myself a superb packer because ship hundreds of items month but am not comfortable packing and shipping such fragile item in merely cardboard box.
Although it appears at least 90 mint, I do realize that such interior components could age and dry out as the rubber belts which cannot vouch for.
Just not as nice the component inside. It is only cardboard after all and after 45 years, does not survive as well.
