Details:
As with all Akai decks with glass heads, they show no wear and work flawlessly. Control and switch cleaning, and a slight touch up on the bias and levels was all that was needed to get all 4 channels to sing to 20khz with Maxwell Dix tape via our Camacho tape analyzer and Mel calibration tape. The original Akai nab hubs are included and are in good working shape, the reels are not included. The wood case is in good shape, with only minor chipping to the veneer in a couple of small places.
Up for sale is one good working condition Akai gx630 dss 4 channel 4 track reel to reel tape recorder. Not bad looking, but the original covers to come up here on from time to time. Why risk buying a cheap as is deck here that's 40 years old and will most likely have issues, when you can buy one from a reel to reel tech that's been fully gone through great for duplicating tapes onto CD or mp3, or as an inexpensive way to find out all about the warm sound of reel to reel.
Has and UPS, the two most common speeds, and the 3 motor mechanism simplifies operation greatly and improves reliability over the older single motor reel to reels. Mic and line mixing, etc. The pros the electronics is in flawless condition, and needed very little work.
Ff and few are fast thanks to the direct drive motors that never have issues.
