The Akai GX-260D Tape Reverse Switch Block is a device designed to control the playback direction of tape decks, allowing for reverse playback. Here are some pros and cons to consider when deciding whether to purchase this product:

Pros:

1. Compatibility: The Akai GX-260D is compatible with a wide range of tape decks, making it a versatile choice for many users.

2. Durability: The switch block is built to withstand frequent use, ensuring that it lasts for a long time.

3. Easy Installation: The switch block is simple to install, making it a convenient option for those who are not experienced with electronics.

Cons:

1. Limited Functionality: The switch block only provides reverse playback functionality, which may not be sufficient for some users who require additional control options.

2. Increased Complexity: Adding a switch block to a tape deck can make the setup more complex, potentially causing confusion for some users.

3. Cost: The Akai GX-260D may be more expensive than some alternative solutions, which could be a deterrent for budget-conscious consumers.

In conclusion, the Akai GX-260D Tape Reverse Switch Block is a reliable and durable solution for those seeking to add reverse playback functionality to their tape decks. However, its limited functionality and potential increase in complexity may not make it the best choice for all users. If reverse playback is a must-have feature and the switch block's cost is within your budget, it is a recommended purchase. Otherwise, consider alternative solutions that may offer more functionality at a lower cost.

Details:

The face plates are all in clean, unmarked condition, but I have no way to test the electronics. Buyer to pay actual shipping costs via USPS Ground Advantage - I don't charge for packing or materials. I was given this deck by a co-worker whose husband had bought it new, but the power cord cut off when got. The switches appear to be mechanically functional although I am unable test this electrically.

This may also fit other model's - the Akai stock number for assembly is BS536297. Please message me with any questions. The heads have been sold, but at the time of this posting almost everything else is available. This is a complete tape speed and reverse mode switch block assembly including capacitor circuit board for an Akai GX-260D reel to deck in condition as pictured.

Make me an offer. Don't like the price. My thought was to have it repaired, but I'm not an RTR enthusiast so I've decided part out.
