The Sony AV-8600 Video Recorder Power Reel is a professional-grade video recording device, and like any product, it has its advantages and disadvantages. Here's a breakdown:
Pros:1. High-quality recording: The AV-8600 uses a 3-CCD system for superior image quality, ensuring your recordings are clear and vibrant.
2. Tape capacity: With the ability to record up to 120 minutes on each cassette, it offers ample recording time for extended shoots.
3. Built-in motor: The built-in motor allows for smooth and continuous recording, eliminating the need for manual advancement of the reels.
4. Versatile connectivity: The AV-8600 offers various connections such as S-Video, Composite, and LANC control, making it compatible with a wide range of devices.
Cons:1. Outdated format: The AV-8600 uses the Hi8 video format, which is no longer widely used in today's digital age. This could make it difficult to find compatible equipment or transfer your recordings to digital formats.
2. High price: As a professional-grade device, the AV-8600 comes with a premium price tag, which may be prohibitive for some users.
3. Limited digital capabilities: Unlike digital video recorders, the AV-8600 does not offer features such as video editing or the ability to easily share recordings online.
4. Bulky and heavy: Due to its professional-grade design, the AV-8600 is larger and heavier than many modern video recorders.
Conclusion:The Sony AV-8600 Video Recorder Power Reel is a high-quality video recording device suitable for professionals who require superior image quality and extended recording times. However, its outdated format, high price, and lack of digital capabilities may make it less appealing to casual users or those with a tight budget.
Recommendation:If you are a professional videographer or filmmaker who requires top-notch image quality and extended recording times, the Sony AV-8600 Video Recorder Power Reel could be a valuable addition to your equipment arsenal. However, if you are a casual user or looking for a more modern, digital solution, you may want to consider more contemporary video recording devices.
Supply reel turns when rewind is engaged. I am including a standard orange colored 3 prong power extension cord with this unit. Very heavy, weighs in at app 38 lbs. Offered is a vintage Sony av 8600 videocorder.
Appears to be in good condition. Also a metal pin turns one direction and then the other when both forward or rewind is engaged I am pointing to in photo untested but powers on motor working. The take up reel does not turn but motor is working so it probably just needs a new belt.
