I have recorded on this in both directions and it did fine used a brand new tape which would only use machine. The deck is being sold in as condition because of its age and I don't know if anything was ever done on this machine it rewind fast forward OK seems to play just fine all lights seem work but no down road will need service or not that's why reels do come with may have a manual look for give find thanks looking.
