The unit can be used to drive any amplifier with a 100k ohm input impedance, at. The previously mentioned variable-gain control 100k ohms is connected across pins 3 and 6. Ampex catalog number it fits the octal accessory socket on AG440, ag5 ag600,mm 1000 recorders to add a microphone input. 1 RMS level.
The preamplifier is wired so that a variable gain control may be inserted between two stages. From the Ampex ag-600b user manual very good quality. Power 24vdc is connected to pin 5, with 2 again as ground.
When so used, the signal input is connected across pins 4 and 8, unbalanced output taken 7/2 ground. Pin 1 should be connected to the case of unit, and also grounded. It is also used in the am-10 mixer, to add a mic input.
This is an Ampex microphone preamp module. Both checked good. Here are 2 Ampex plug-in microphone preamps part they used but in good condition. It is solid state, discrete and very fat sounding due to the German made Beyer transformers.
