The thru is so you can monitor what you're recording. You over to single and can hear whats coming off the tape. It does, however reproduce in stereo if you are listening to tapes. The inputs are record and thru.
It records in mono only. 75 UPS meant to lay flat when in use and take 1/4 tape of 7 reels weighed: 34 lbs oz measures: 17 x 15 10 unboxed this was one Ampex top the line presume decks. It is not a stereo recorder.
Left and right outputs. It comes in really hot and is makes for great pre sounds Ala any 50s 60s blues records. There is an input on the side for a microphone.
So, you can listen to something that was recorded in stereo or mix down this and make bad's, old school recordings mono.
